This is part of the European network of Tortoise sanctuaries. Many local and international varieties of tortoise in an outdoor setting. On the RN7 close to Le Luc in the Var. Closed in winter, check the website for opening hours.


Fayence Market

This Market takes place at Place Thiers in the village of Fayence, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. Local products from Le Pays de Fayence and local specialities are displayed.

Places to visit

Castle of Le Puy

Built in 1830 by Alexandre Fabre, one of the first French Polytechnician. He was sent by Napoleon 1er to the Tsar Alexander as an engineer of the highways to trace roads inside the vast Russian empire. 20 years later, he returned to Fayence and built this castle he wanted as the replica of the Cadet School in St. Petersburg.

Saint Jean Baptiste Church

Church dating from the 14th Century, the Church of Saint Jean de Baptiste was the object of an extension in the 18th century to become one of the three largest churches in le Var.

La Tour de l'Horloge

The clock tower was built in 1807 and is the historic heart of the village. Its 360° panoramic view over the rooftops of Fayence and the mountains surrounding it is stunning.

Rowing at Saint-Cassien Lake

Saint-Cassien Lake was formed consequently to a dam blocking La Siagne River.  The Lake allows to row on 6km non stop, which is ideal for training and for leisure rowing. This is why the Provence Federation of Rowing had established its base there.
